THE Y.E.S GROUP
If you wonder who the Castle Rock Players Y.E.S. Group is (Youth Ensemble Series) and what they do, don’t think typical. This creative group of teenagers spends three hours every Sunday afternoon and many hours outside of the meetings developing ideas that will not only improve their talents but will reach their audiences. In the 2004 season they produced a show based on growing up as a performer. The group labored to make about 50% of that show original work. After presenting a very successful YES Showcase last spring they were inspired to challenge themselves with more difficult material. They set several goals for themselves:

1. The piece would challenge them as actors and as people.
2. The piece would affect the people that see the show and hopefully the community.
3. The piece would be 100% original work.

an original work dealing with the Holocaust, which has been completely written and produced by Y.E.S. Group members. This isn’t a dark retelling of statistics but a touching piece about hope and how people struggled to survive. It also crosses over from the past to show the present and remind us of the hatred and prejudice that exists today. All performances are FREE to the public, although donations will be accepted (a portion of all donations will be given to a Holocaust Awareness Group).

WORK, WORK, WORK...
The talented young people who comprise the Y.E.S. Group put in a lot of hours perfecting their craft, and it shows. Dividing time between school, extracurricular activities, jobs, and family, many of these teens hold down schedules that would bring most adults to their knees! That they still find the time to write, direct, and perform in poignant original works is remarkable. They are a testament to the energy and optimism of youth, dedicated to affecting positive change through theater...one audience at a time.
